Cartoons From 1996
The bulk of Andrew Wahls editorial cartoon output in 1996 was for two projects: An attempt to land an open editorial cartooning position at The (Tacoma, Wash.) News Tribune and an unfinished portfolio of environmental cartoons with the working title Cartoons in the Key of E.
Andrew survived the first cut for the TNT gig, losing out in the second round. (Ultimately, the position went unfilled.) The portfolio project was forced to the back burner as Andrew turned his attention to finding a full-time job. Hed eventually land at The (Longview, Wash) Daily News, where a few of these cartoons finally saw print.
Greed [Archive No. 9605] was one of those cartoons. It was part of a portfolio, along with 1997s Birds of a Feather [Archive No. 9712] and Feeling Productive? [Archive No. 9723], that took second place in the Editorial Cartoons division of the 1997 Washington Press Association awards.
