What's New From 2004

The following information was posted under “What’s New” on the OtWP Info main page in 2004:

Pick your favorite toons of 2004
[Posted 12.27.04]
Cartoon awards season is right around the corner and Off the Wahl Productions is looking for a little feedback about Andrew’s cartoons. If it’s not too much trouble, visit the Cartoons From 2004 page and review this year’s offerings. Then e-mail Andrew at toon@offthewahl.com and let him know which three cartoons were your favorites. If one stood head and shoulders above the rest, let him know that, too.

The Cartoons From 2004 page also includes his latest offering, “The Gift” [Archive No. 0411]. It’s another toon about the Washington governor’s race. At the rate we’re going, that race will be grist for cartoons until about 2007.

OtWP thanks you for taking the time to visit our site each week. We hope you’ll take the time to let us know which toons worked best for you.

Happy New Year!

No cartoon this week
[Posted 12.22.04]
Due to a hectic holiday schedule there will be no new cartoon this week. Andrew should return to the board in time to produce a new editorial cartoon for next Monday. Until then, Merry Christmas from Off the Productions.

Single parent, single toon
[Posted 12.13.04]
With his wife attending a week-long training seminar, Andrew tries life as a single parent. The tight schedule means just a single addition this week: “Big Uncle Is Watching” [Archive No. 0410].

Holiday jeer
[Posted 12.06.04]
Just a single cartoon this week, the new “Reason for the Season” [Archive No. 0409]. With any luck, a couple of Andrew’s Christmas-themed cartoons from previous years should be added to archive in the next week.

A new toon — and some TNT
[Posted 11.29.04]
The annual Wahl Family turkey OD means no cartoons for the archive this week. But a brand new toon, “Counting Change” [Archive No. 0408], was posted today. Andrew’s original plan was to do about one state cartoon per month, but the überclose gubernatorial race in Washington has provided excellent juice for toons. More on that topic in coming weeks.

In other Off the Wahl Productions news, one of Andrew’s cartoons was picked up for publication by The (Tacoma, Wash.) News Tribune. “Beyond Our Reach” [Archive No. 0406] appeared in the Nov. 24 edition. With a daily circulation of 128,000, TNT is the biggest daily newspaper to date to publish Andrew’s work.

A single toon week
[Posted 11.22.04]
Just one addition this week: Andrew’s newest editorial cartoon, “Finding WMDs” [Archive No. 0407].

More toons new and old
[Posted 11.15.04]
Once again, a new week brings the addition of several editorial cartoons. Andrew’s latest piece, titled “Beyond Our Reach,” [Archive No. 0406], appeared in the 11.15.04 edition of The Wenatchee World. Also new this week: a Cartoons From 1996 page and one addition to the Cartoons From 1997 page.

Toons new and old
[Posted 11.08.04]
Andrew’s newest editorial cartoon, “Scary Words” [Archive No. 0405], goes live. You’ll notice that his caricature of Bush is a work in progress, although this latest effort gets pretty close. Also live as of this update: Pages featuring Cartoons From 1997 and 1998. Look for more cartoons to be archived in the near future.

Back to the drawing board
[Posted 11.05.04]
Welcome to the relaunch of offthewahl.com, the official online home of Andrew Wahl and Off the Wahl Productions. Given that our site consisted of little more than a placeholder page for the past six months, we hope you’ll find Version 2.0 a little more inviting.

The most significant change, we think, is the addition of Andrew’s editorial cartoons. After more than six years away from cartooning, Andrew recently returned to the drawing board to start producing new toons for his current newspaper, The Wenatchee World. These cartoons will also be distributed via this Web site and by e-mail. (If you’d like to be added to the weekly cartoon mailing list, just drop us a line.) In the weeks and months ahead, we’ll be adding an archive of Andrew’s past editorial cartoon efforts.

We’ve also added a Family and Friends section for, well, our family and friends. These pages include the latest news and photos from the Wahl family outpost in Waterville, Wash. (Note: The Family and Friends section was removed from offthewahl.com on 05.30.05.)

And past visitors needn’t worry, the site will continue to host the Greater Northwest Student Journalism Awards (GNSJA) and Andrew’s other student journalism endeavors. (Note: Most of he Student Journalism section was removed from offthewahl.com on 01.24.06.)

This relaunch is just the beginning. New content will be added to this site at least weekly, and we’re hoping it will be more often than that. The plan is for offthewahl.com be a dynamic way to communicate with people interested in Andrew’s cartooning, students looking for the latest on the GNSJA, and family and friends.

So check it out and let us know what you think. Enjoy!
