Detective Comics #467
Published and © by DC, January-February 1977
Title: “Pick-Up on Gotham 2-4-6”
Synopsis: After breaking up a criminal conspiracy on a Gotham subway, Batman recounts the caper for a mystery breakfast guest.
Writer: Bob Rozakis
Penciler: John Calnan
Inker: Vince Colletta
Review: While the backup story is certainly the main draw for this issue, this lead feature isn’t a bad outing, either. Bob Rozakis’ play-along whodunit is fun, even if the plot itself is a bit convoluted. As usual, John Calnan provides journeyman-level art with hints that he’s capable of much more.

Title: “The Man Who Skyjacked Hawkman!”
Synopsis: The Calculator skyjacks Hawkman in an effort to keep the hero from stopping a nuclear plant meltdown!
Writer: Bob Rozakis
Penciler: Marshall Rogers
Inker: Terry Austin
Review: The second outing from the legendary Detective art team of Marshall Rogers and Terry Austin. Enjoyable, despite the Calculator.
Grade (for the entire issue): B+
Cool factor: There’s no Steve Englehart yet, but it’s hard to go wrong with Marshall Rogers and Terry Austin on Detective.
Not-so-cool factor: The Calculator. What a silly, silly villain.
Collector’s note: According to MyComicShop.com, there is a Mark Jewelers variant of this issue.
Character quotable: “Alfred … breakfast for two!” – Batman, famished crime fighter/happy host
