Synopsis: When the Society to Outlaw Parent Power takes Gotham hostage with an A-bomb, Batman calls the Teen Titans for help.

Review: Bob Haney’s scripts rarely pass the real-world smell test but, damn, they sure are fun. This one features hippie political activists, Gotham’s ghetto, an improvised atomic weapon, the need for parental love and, of course Batman and his guests du jour, the Teen Titans. It’s fascinating reading a middle-age man’s take on the youth culture of the day. (This story is actually surprisingly sympathetic.) On the art side, Nick Cardy delivers some strong storytelling, though his figure work sometimes lacks dynamism. Cardy’s Batman has a bit of a dad bod, but that actually works well with this issue’s themes.
Grade: B-
