Review: Compared to modern decompressed storytelling, there is a massive amount of material in this issue: Not one but two major battles, a 2-1/2-page recap of the Doom Patrol’s career and some great character moments, particularly those featuring Changeling. Yet none of this feels rushed: Writer Marv Wolfman is in total control of the pacing. Of course, he’s aided by some masterful work by artist George Pérez. Already a gifted storyteller, Pérez’s page design and panel selection continue to improve. Combined, Wolfman and Pérez are fast becoming one of the best – and most consistent – creative teams of the Bronze Age.

Cool factor: The real question: How cool would a Wolfman/Pérez Doom Patrol series have been?
Notable: First brief appearance of the new Brotherhood of Evil.
