Title: “Last Kill!”
Synopsis: The Titans invade Trigon’s dimension to save Raven – and discover the demon to be more evil than they imagined!

Writer: Marv Wolfman
Penciler: George Pérez
Inker: Pablo Marcos

Review: What a difference an issue – and an artist – make. After a weak penultimate chapter with pencils from Curt Swan (see review of The New Teen Titans #5), George Pérez returns to help bring the original Trigon saga to a terrifying conclusion. But it’s writer Marv Wolfman who really ups his game, taking Trigon’s villainy to another level. Slaughtering a child in front of her mother? Check. Destroying an entire planet for back-talking? Done. Rape and degradation of Raven’s mother. Yikes. In one issue, the Titan’s big bad makes the leap from poor man’s Galactus to Doctor Doom on demonic steroids.

Grade: A-

Cool factor: It took a few issues, but the Titans creative finally nails the villain thing.
Not-so-cool factor: Trigon’s behavior? Definitely not cool.

Notable: Origin of Raven.
Collector’s note: According to the Grand Comics Database, there is a 15p British variant of this issue.

Character quotable: “Lessons must be taught! Discipline must be maintained!” – Trigon, before bring a child’s blood to a boil
