Warlord #37
Published and © by DC, September 1980
Title: “A Horse of a Different Color”
Synopsis: Warlord acquires a wild pegasus but requires rescue from Shakira when he encounters a harpy.
Writer: Mike Grell
Penciler: Grell
Inker: Vince Colletta
Review: Let’s see … Pegasus? Check. Centaur? Check. Harpy? Check. Writer/artist Mike Grell continues his run through the fantasy-creature catalog with this solidly-crafted-but undemanding tale. We also get another femme fatale – name: Astarte, hair: green – and Shakira gets a few character-development moments. All told, a typical Warlord outing.

Title: “For This Is the New Origin of OMAC!”
Synopsis: An alien on videotape shares news of the Great Disaster – and that OMAC has .002% chance of stopping it.
Writer: Jim Starlin
Penciler: Starlin
Inker: Joe Rubinstein
Review: Jim Starlin’s art has slipped a bit from his Marvel prime. Story wise, this first chapter is thick with exposition.
Grade (for the entire issue): B
Cool factor: Starlin on OMAC …
Not-so-cool factor: … sounded better in theory.
Notable: The OMAC material is from the DC Implosion and originally appeared in Cancelled Comic Cavalcade #2.
Collector’s note: According to MyComicShop.com, there is a Mark Jewelers variant of this issue.
Character quotable: “Save your honey for the bees.” – Shakira, feeling a little catty
