Topo the octopus runs off with Aquababy; Aquaman pursues, but winds up battling Starro the Conqueror instead. Weak villains bring down the story, written by David Michelinie, but the art by Jim Aparo is strong. (The J’onn J’onzz backup feature, drawn by Mike Netzer and Terry Austin, is pretty, too.)
READThe X-Men face off with Eric the Red and Firelord with perhaps the fate of the universe in the balance. This one strains the suspension of disbelief, but it’s still a strong outing from the regular creative team of Chris Claremont and Dave Cockrum.
READTarzan returns to save a safari hunter from beast and man – but is the hunter really who he says? Marvel takes over the Tarzan franchise from the Distinguished Competition, and, while not on par with the best Kubert issues, Roy Thomas and John Buscema do deliver an enjoyable debut issue.
